To treat overuse injuries, the physiotherapist will do the assessment first. In the assessment session, they will ask how your injury happened, what type of activities you are doing daily if you have any other medical condition or previous injury to the same body part. After that, they will note which movement is painful and according to that, they will make a treatment plan. The initial goal of treatment is to reduce pain and stiffness, reduce muscle spasms, and improve posture, muscle strength, and joints range of motion. To do that your physiotherapist can use modalities like ultrasound or laser to improve tissue healing. Treatment can also include soft tissue release, joint mobilization, and muscle strengthening. The postural correction will also play an important role in the treatment of overuse injuries.
