Most Common Cause
The most common cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis. The plantar fascia acts as a shock absorber and gives support to the arch of the foot. Any problem with foot alignment like flat feet, high arch, and faulty structure of the foot can develop plantar fasciitis. It gives you a stabbing pain in the bottom of your foot near the heel. The pain is usually the worst with the first few steps after you wake up, although it can also be triggered by long periods of standing or when you get up after sitting for a long time or long-distance running & long hours of standing. Sometimes tightness in the Achilles tendon may also cause pain in the plantar fascia because it is attached to the heel bone. Being overweight or wearing non supportive footwear on a hard surface is also a risk factor to develop plantar fasciitis.
What Do We Offer
Physiotherapists can help you to find the root cause of plantar fasciitis by assessing your lower extremity movement and asking questions related to symptoms of foot pain. Once the underlying cause is determined, they will develop a treatment plan that will help you to recover faster. Plantar fasciitis can be treated effectively using conservative measures including stretching, strengthening exercise for foot muscles, hands-on techniques, and footwear modification. Plantar fasciitis can be prevented by doing regular stretches & strengthening exercises of lower extremity muscles, stop doing activities that increase pain like standing for a long time or running and walking on a hard surface.

My 12 years experience with Reza and his team is amazing. I am very happy with their service and treatment. Reza is a very friendly and caring person, on top of that he is an expert with what he does, that’s why I drive all the way from Port Coquitlam to Surrey to go to his physiotherapy. Highly recommended.
